Backstory

I didn’t know anything about technology when I graduated. I was born in Sri Lanka, grew up in Australia, and studied law and economics – an outsider to the world of tech.

I started my career in FMCG, moved through telco, and eventually found my home in technology. It was fast, challenging, creative, everything I wanted in a career. Over the next 15+ years, I worked across the world in roles spanning product, strategy, marketing, and operations. Most recently, I was Chief Operating Officer at a technology company that scaled globally and achieved a $1.7B exit.

I’m a big believer in rethinking assumptions and being willing to start from scratch. I learnt that from my grandparents. I remember my grandfather doing paper rounds at 5am after migrating to Australia, because finding a job in your 50s in a new country was hard. That resilience shaped me.

It’s why I love working with leaders and teams to build companies, when vision and grit are sometimes all you’ve got. I started Avenyr to offer the kind of partnership I would have valued along the way. Someone who knows when to challenge and when to listen. Who understands that scaling a company also means scaling yourself.

I’m most energised when working with leaders who are quietly bold, those who are always asking the deeper questions. That’s who I built Avenyr for.
